Dr. Carlos Montiel
Dr Carlos Montiel was raised and educated in Venezuela, as well as in the U.S. He studied pre-medicine in Florida and completed his medical degree at the University of the Andes School of medicine in Venezuela. During his studies, he had an opportunity to work at the University Hospital in various departments from surgery, pediatrics to family medicine. He worked as a rural general practioner in Venezuela before joining our teaching staff.
Dr. Montiel is the instructor for the Medical English Language course at Stanley Academy. He is detail-oriented and compassionate about medicine and teaching. The students learn a lot about medicine, communication with patients and health proffesionals when they study with him. He is very friendly and he is always eager to follow the students’ interests.
Mr. Peter Mayor
Mr. Peter Mayor is a professionally trained teacher of Academic & ESL English with 20 years teaching experience. He was born in London, England and studied at the University of Western Ontario & the University of British Columbia in Canada. During the years 1996-99, he worked at the University of British Columbia as a Language Proficiency Index (LPI) Test Evaluator, as well as designing & developing a complementary oral/aural test, the Canadian English Language Test of Oral Proficiency (CELTOP). During this time, he also tutored many 3rd & 4th year Pharmacy candidates in the Test of Spoken English (TSE). Mr. Mayor prepares the students for the TOEFL and TSE exams at Stanley Academy.
Mr. Mayor is a very skilled ESL teacher. His teaching philosophy is focussed on the individual needs of all his students, and he has created a curriculum that not only prepares them for the TSE and TOEFL but also helps them understand North American culture & gain confidence when it comes to speaking English. He is a meticulous lesson planner and demonstrates a great deal of kindness and patience in his teaching. When he’s not working, Mr. Mayor enjoys cooking & outdoor sports.
Dr. Rohan Bissoondath
Dr. Rohan Bissoondath has been working as a doctor in internal medicine for the past 5 years. Dr. Bissoondath was born and raised in Alberta, Canada. He studied medicine at U of C, UBC and finished his medical degree in Trinidad. He is the instructor for the Registered Nurses Examination Preparation course and the Medical English Language course at Stanley Academy.
Dr. Bissoondath has a deep understanding of medicine as well as in the English language. He takes a practical approach when it comes to teaching. He is eager to bring in new materials into the classroom to stimulate the students’ minds and spends time doing interactive activities such as role-plays. He is very friendly and works hard to follow the students’ interests for the Medical English Language course and thoroughly prepares the nurses to pass the RN exam.
